The Global Peace Convention in Nairobi, Kenya, is a vital opportunity for leaders from government, civil society, and the faith community to seek collaborative solutions to conflict and underdevelopment and build a consensus for sustainable peace in sub-Saharan Africa. 


Nairobi River Youth Service Initiative and GPF-supported character competency and entrepreneurship training in Rift Valley.

The Convention will enable Heads of State to share perspectives for peace and development in Africa with social entrepreneurs, service providers, and faith-based leaders. 

Plenary Sessions will feature leading African statesmen and regional experts on peace building and development and include:

  • "Conflict Resolution, Peace, and Development in Africa," a forum for African Heads of State
  • Interactive Plenary: "Understanding, Preventing and Resolving Identity-based Conflicts"

During Convention break-out sessions, community leaders, NGOs, and other civil society partners will share best practices and develop practical strategies for service and peace building. Sessions will convene on key development approaches,such as:

  • Interfaith: “The Role of Faith Communities in Social Development”
  • Family: “Healthy Marriages and Families as Building Blocks for Community Wellbeing”
  • Service: Community Cooperatives, Self Reliance and Volunteer Service for Rural Development”
  • Entrepreneurship: "Promoting Entrepreneurship Partnerships for Youth Empowerment and ""Building a Global Coalition of Social Entrepreneurs with the Power of Social Networks and New Media"

Convention delegates will join Nairobi residents and other international guests on November 19 for a day of entertainment and cultural celebration at the 2010 Global Peace Festival at Nayayo Stadium.

Preregistration for the 2010 Global Peace Convention begins July 15. Check back for updates on the program and details of travel and accommodations.

Global Peace Festival 2010

Since 2007, the GPF has grown into a worldwide movement engaging political and spiritual leaders, sports stars, celebrities, and a broad range of partnering organizations. The 2010 Global Peace Festival will provide an international platform to highlight innovative, soft-power responses to conflict in the twenty-first century.

In recognition of the GPF’s investment in peacebuilding, the Hon. Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of Kenya, will act a Patron of the Festival. Learn more.


Inter-national Young Leaders Summit 2010

Convening in Nairobi on November 18-19 on the theme “Young Leaders in the 21st Century: Prospects & Challenges,” the 2010 International Young Leaders Summit will feature respected world leaders and global entrepreneurs addressing issues of African peacebuilding and development, as well as broader collaborative strategies that support conflict resolution, water resource development, health care, and other priorities in the developing world.
