Steve founded Cross-Cultural Solutions in 1995, which places over 4,000 volunteers each year in international volunteer programs. It connects volunteers with sustainable community initiatives, bringing people together to work side-by-side while sharing perspectives and fostering understanding. He has worked with at-risk youth in the United States and been a consultant for numerous international volunteering organizations in the U.S. and abroad.

He is on the Executive Committee of the International Volunteer Programs Association and is the Chairman of the Building Bridges Coalition, a project of the Brookings Institution. This coalition seeks to expand international volunteer service, improve the quality of the service, and ensure positive impacts in communities throughout the world.
He has dedicated much of his time to communities throughout the world and is the Development Chief for the traditional area of Ziavi, Ghana, West Africa. He is the only non-African ever to have been given this honor.
Steve attended George Washington University and the University of Colorado.

 

Global Peace Festival 2010

Since 2007, the GPF has grown into a worldwide movement engaging political and spiritual leaders, sports stars, celebrities, and a broad range of partnering organizations. The 2010 Global Peace Festival will provide an international platform to highlight innovative, soft-power responses to conflict in the twenty-first century.

In recognition of the GPF’s investment in peacebuilding, the Hon. Raila Odinga, Prime Minister of Kenya, will act a Patron of the Festival.  Learn more.




 Inter-national Young Leaders Summit 2010

Convening in Nairobi on November 18-19 on the theme “Young Leaders in the 21st Century: Prospects & Challenges,” the 2010 International Young Leaders Summit will feature respected world leaders and global entrepreneurs addressing issues of African peacebuilding and development, as well as broader collaborative strategies that support  conflict resolution, water resource development, health care, and other priorities in the developing world.
