At 11:00am on Friday, December 11th, a session entitled “Religions and Peace: From Dialogue to Shared Commitment and Cooperation” was called to order by Moderator Ms. Gail Paine, who is currently Projects Director for GPF-USA. The session featured three presenters- Mr. Muhammad Umar, the Chairman of the Ramadhan Foundation in the United Kingdom, Dr. Chandra Setiawan, Co-Founder of the Society of Interfaith Dialogue based in Jakarta, Indonesia and Mr. Azhar Hussain, who is Senior Vice-President and Project Director of the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy (ICRD).

At 2:30 PM on Saturday, December 12th, an exciting session entitled, “Defenses of Peace: Educating for Peace and Interreligious Understanding” was held featuring presentations by Dr. Estrella Abid-Babano- Director of Philippines Region 10 Department of Education and Mr. Azhar Hussain- Senior Vice-President and Project Director of the International Center for Religion and Diplomacy (ICRD). Moderating the session was Ms. Gail Paine, Projects Director for GPF-USA.

On Saturday, December 12 at 2:30 PM an inspiring session was held entitled: “Peacebuilding Relationships at Home and in the World”. Moderated by Alan J. Inman of Alan J. Inman Enterprises in New York, NY, the session included presentations by Ms. Nisa Muhammad, founder of the Wedded Bliss Foundation and Ms. Deepa Rachel, Director of Manford, Inc, a company that specializes in conflict resolution within families, organizations and the community at large. These two dynamic speakers strove quite successfully to foster a process of recognition among the participants that peace building can be taught through fairly simple exercises.

The session, “Innovative Strategies in Education and Environment”, held at 4:30PM on Dec. 12 proved to be very informative, exciting and HOPEFUL. An overflow crowd packed the Champagne Salon. Howard Self (GPFF-USA) moderated the breakout, which featured two complementary presentations.
