Goal; One million ‘clicks’ between February 9th and June 9th 2010 (4 months) Power of 10sen, an ongoing project of GPFF-Malaysia, is partnering with “Communities Unite for Purewater (CUP). Power of 10sen empowers children to change lives, 10sen at a time. Power of 10Sen and CUP have launched an online awareness campaign and donation drive funded by Malaysian corporate sponsors. It aims to engage not only young people but the whole world in an effort to provide clean water for poverty-stricken communities in Cambodia. 10sen will be donated by Malaysian corporate sponsors for every click on Power of 10sen online banner. The collected funds will be channeled to ‘Research and Development International Cambodia’ (RDIC) to purchase and install water collection tanks and ceramic filter systems for clean water supply of the Cambodian people. Nearly 80% of deaths in Cambodia are due to water born illnesses. Naturally-occurring arsenic in the groundwater has caused sickness of epidemic proportions in Cambodia in recent years. Access to adequate water supply is not only a fundamental need but a human right. It is a crucial element in the reduction of the deaths of children under 5 years old in poor urban areas. Access to clean water also means that the considerable amount of time women and children spend for fetching water could be spent more effectively on other tasks like improving economic productivity, a key component of poverty alleviation efforts.
