The Global Peace Festival celebrates the vision of 'One Family Under God' by developing ongoing programs that:
- Raise and nurture strong marriages and families
- Facilitate Inter-religious harmony
- Foster a culture of peace and service
This works hand in hand with the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals, which aim to:
- Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
- Achieve universal primary education
- Promote gender equality and empower women
- Reduce child mortality
- Improve maternal health
- Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases
- Ensure environmental sustainability
- Develop a global partnership for development
In September 2000, at the United Nations Millennium Summit, world leaders reaffirmed their commitment to peace, security, good governance, and attention to the most vulnerable with the adoption of the Millennium Declaration. Placed at the heart of the global agenda, they are now called the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
